Shama Patel is a board-certified emergency physician and global health practitioner working at the intersection of clinical medicine, global health, and AI safety. She evaluates healthcare large language models and advances AI literacy, failure preparedness, and shared responsibility for AI model failures across developers, deployers, institutions, regulators, and frontline teams, especially in high-risk health settings. She holds academic appointments with Brown University and Africa Health Sciences University in Rwanda, and has led emergency care, education, and health systems-strengthening work in low-resource and humanitarian settings. At Aula, she hopes to help make conversations about AI accessible, rigorous, equitable and useful for everyone.
