After 15 years as a customer advocate in VC-backed tech, I sensed that the industry’s pursuit of AGI means we’re all ‘customers’ now. So I’ve repurposed my efforts towards public AI literacy – programs that invite visions for a positive future, and also educate about the systemic dynamics and tradeoffs to get there.

In the first 6 months, my organization Tech/ish has:

– Facilitated 10 AI-related salons coast-to-coast.
– Delivered AI Safety trainings at community libraries, senior centers, law enforcement agencies.
– Engaged broad perspectives (tech workers, artists, nonprofits, lawyers, clergy, retirees and more) on a wide range of AI topics.
– Hosted unique events at Tech Week by a16z: one explicitly welcoming tech outsiders into AI dialogue, and another gathering *anonymous* feedback from Founders/Investors to cut through dominant narratives.
– Recruited 2 city facilitators and numerous volunteer collaborators.
