“Decoding the Diversity: A Review of the Indic AI Research Landscape” article written by Sreyoshi BhaduriSankalp KJVinija JainTamoghna RoyAman Chadha

This review paper provides a comprehensive overview of large language model (LLM) research directions within Indic languages. Indic languages are those spoken in the Indian subcontinent, including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bhutan, among others. These languages have a rich cultural and linguistic heritage and are spoken by over 1.5 billion people worldwide. With the tremendous market potential and growing demand for natural language processing (NLP) based applications in diverse languages, generative applications for Indic languages pose unique challenges and opportunities for research. Our paper deep dives into the recent advancements in Indic generative modeling, contributing with a taxonomy of research directions, tabulating 84 recent publications.

“Leveraging AI in Education” an article written by Dr. Sreyoshi Bhaduri and Prof. Indrani Bhaduri for the India Today.

The article explores the relationship between AI and human intelligence, starting with the Turing Test’s role in assessing machine intelligence. It highlights the differences between machine learning and human learning, emphasizing AI’s potential to augment human capabilities through advanced algorithms. In education, AI can automate tasks, personalize learning, and provide intelligent tutoring systems. However, the over-reliance on AI may undermine essential human interactions. Responsible integration of AI in education requires balancing technological benefits with ethics and social interaction. While AI will disrupt many jobs and practices, it offers significant opportunities for those willing to adapt.
